PROFILE

ACGS (Asiatic Center of Gemological Services)  is a experienced organisation, but with loads of experience to back it. Mr. Deepak Bagai, who owns and heads the organisation. Obtaining his M.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 1971, he discovered his passion for gems soon thereafter. Although he served as a police officer for 35 years, he pursued gemology with vigour over the years.

This led to his going to US to study at GIA and obtain his Graduate Diamond Diploma ( it was called Diamond Certificate in the good old days). This was followed by qualifications in colored stones and subsequently he also earned his FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain) from GAGTL (currently known as Gem-A), London in 1995.

His continued involvement with gemstones led to GIA inviting him to help set up their first education center in India (in Mumbai) and was then asked to head the school from its inception in 2004. He carried out his responsibilities with GIA-India with devotion and enthusiasm till April, 2008 and then went back to his responsibilities of govt. service. He has since retired from active police service and is back in the field of gemstones to fulfill a commitment towards the community of jewelers, diamantaires, gemologists, and the public at large that are the actual end-users of the beautiful stones.

ACGS is an accredited teaching center (ATC) for all gemmology courses of Gem-A. For more details refer to https://gem-a.com/education/teaching-centres/

ACGS courses (other than Gem-A) are patterned on the GIA method of teaching.
